Kickboxer Katie Fights Her Way To International Success
A former Moseley Park student is celebrating after being crowned world kickboxing champion.
Katie Healy fought off strong competition to win the WKA World Kickboxing championship in November. She had previously secured the Jackhammers World Title in New York in February.
Katie, who left Moseley Park in 2016 to study business management at Aston University, won her first major title last year.
She has been kickboxing since she was 11, after being introduced to the sport by her dad.
Katie said: “I’m a competitive person, once I put myself forward I put everything into it. I’ve had great trainers and I’ve also been good at responding to criticism. I am my biggest critic. I used to be so nervous fighting, but experience has taught me to remain calm and combined with hard training I have got where I am.”
