New Club Is In The Good Books

Young leaders are celebrating following the success of their brand new book club.

The group, which is open to all youngsters in Key Stage 3, started earlier this term and already has more than 20 members.

It was the brainchild of Amrit Sidhu, in Year 7, who is working towards her gold leadership award as part of Moseley Park’s young leaders project.

One of the criteria for attaining the award is to start a club or society, so Amrit and her friends decided to create their own lunch time book club.

It meets every Friday lunch time in Mrs Taylor’s room to read and review books and all Year 7 and 8 students are welcome.

Mr Mincher, who runs the leadership programme, said: “They came up with the idea and run the club entirely themselves. It’s really popular and is exactly the sort of independence and initiative we like to see from all our students – and in particular our young leaders.”
