Pupils Pick Up Their Pens For Black History Month
Budding writers in Year 7 are picking up their pens to compose a poem or a short-story in celebration of Black History Month.
Students are working hard in Integrated Studies lessons to explore what Black History Month means to them, before writing a poem or a 500-word story on the topic.
Their efforts will be entered in the Under-16s category of a special writing competition, which is being organised by UNISON. Winners will receive a £50 book voucher, plus a £100 book voucher for their school. The contest closes at 4pm on Monday, October 22.
Mr O’Keeffe, who is Head of Integrated Studies, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to bring together students of all backgrounds to explore what Black History Month means to them. Pupils are really enjoying their lessons and producing brilliant pieces of writing.”
