Pupils Vie To Be Best In Poetry Contest
Pupils in Year 7 and 8 are being offered the chance to showcase their poetry skills for the chance to win a fabulous prize.
The Key Stage 3 poetry competition is running throughout the Easter holidays – and finished entries must be handed in to the English department by Friday, April 20 at the latest.
To enter, students must write their own poem using the techniques they have studied during the last half term. Last year’s competition saw some brilliant entries, which staff really enjoyed reading to pick their favourite.
Mrs Akande, who is organising the contest, said: “You can choose any form or structure you have studied for your poem and it can be based on one of the themes from the anthology – such as nature, identity, people or loss.”
Prizes and reward points will be given to the winners and runners up in each year group.
