Speaker Spotlight Programme Shines in Its First Term at Moseley Park Academy
This term marked the successful launch of our Speaker Spotlight Programme, designed to broaden horizons and connect classroom learning with real-world careers. The initiative has already made a huge impact, bringing inspiring professionals to share their expertise with students across all year groups.
Year 7 kicked off the programme with a thought-provoking session from the Head of NHS Sustainability, who spoke about the importance of tackling climate change and how environmental issues directly affect healthcare.
Year 8 welcomed experts from BWB Consulting Group, who introduced pupils to the world of architecture and construction, including an interactive discussion on building bridges and the skills needed in the industry.
Year 9 had the privilege of hearing from the military, exploring routes into the armed forces and nursing careers, and learning how science plays a vital role in these professions.
Year 10 engaged with Severn Trent, discovering the science behind water purification and its link to the curriculum. Students were excited to learn that a follow-up site visit is scheduled for February, offering a hands-on experience.
Year 11 and Sixth Form benefited from two insightful sessions: one with pharmacy students, who shared their journeys and pathways into the profession, and another with the Civil Service, highlighting current roles and opportunities in the local area.
We also extend our gratitude to the Department for Work and Pensions, who supported Post-16 options assemblies and helped launch work experience opportunities for Year 10.
This programme would not be possible without the dedication of all our volunteers and partners. Thank you for an amazing first term! We look forward to an action-packed spring term, filled with more opportunities to inspire and inform our students.
