Acting Is In The Blood As Year 10 Prepare For Their First Assessment

Young actors have been honing their skills ahead of their first assessed performances.

The Year 10 pupils have been studying the popular musical Blood Brothers for their BTEC Drama qualification.

Each group has worked on a short section of Act 1, directing it themselves, learning their lines, and adding their own props and staging – as well as using their acting skills to portray the roles on stage.

Blood Brothers is much-loved musical play by Willy Russell. The story is a contemporary nature versus nurture plot, revolving around twins Mickey and Eddie, who were separated at birth, one being raised in a wealthy family, the other in a poor family.

Mrs Edwards-Rowley, who teaches Drama, said: “The students have worked really hard and produced some good performance work. They are really looking forward to their next performance after half term, which will be staged in front of a lower school audience.”
