Action-Packed National Apprenticeship Week at Moseley Park School

Moseley Park School has enjoyed an action-packed National Apprenticeship Week, giving pupils valuable insight into a wide range of career pathways and future opportunities.

Throughout the week, pupils took part in a variety of engaging activities designed to raise awareness of apprenticeships and the routes available after school. This included workplace visits to Severn Trent and Wild Zoo, where pupils explored real working environments and learned about the skills and qualifications needed for different roles.

Pupils also benefited from a series of informative talks. Construction and engineering professionals shared details about their industries, including current apprenticeship vacancies and entry requirements. An NHS nurse spoke to pupils about apprentice nursing pathways, highlighting how apprenticeships can lead to rewarding careers within healthcare.

In addition, representatives from the Department for Work and Pensions delivered sessions focused on developing interview skills, helping pupils understand how to prepare for and succeed in apprenticeship interviews.

During form time, pupils discussed and challenged common misconceptions about apprenticeships and explored live apprenticeship vacancies. This gave them a realistic understanding of what is on offer locally and the expectations employers have of applicants.

National Apprenticeship Week has been a valuable opportunity to inspire pupils, broaden their career knowledge and support Moseley Park School’s commitment to preparing young people for the world of work.
