Cheers As Superstar Tegan Wins International Gold
A talented young cheerleader is celebrating after helping England secure a gold medal at the world championships.
Tegan Baker, who is in Year 10, was part of Team England’s Youth Cheerleading squad who stormed to victory in Florida last week.
They beat teams from Canada, Chile and Korea to take the top spot in the Youth Coed Median category.
This means the team – which is made up of boys and girls – has now been crowned World Champions by the International Cheer Union, the sport’s governing body.
Competitive cheerleading involves teams performing a two-and-a-half minute routine featuring dance and gymnastics in a bid to impress judges.
Miss Rigsby said: “To go out to the USA, compete with the best in the world and come home world champions is a fantastic achievement. We couldn’t be prouder of Tegan.”
