Civil Service Experts Inspire Central Sixth Students at Moseley Park Academy
Sixth Form students from across Central Sixth – including Moseley Park Academy, Heath Park, and Coppice – took part in an engaging and informative careers event this week, as guest speakers from the Civil Service visited to share insights into their roles and career pathways.
The session, hosted at Moseley Park Academy, brought together students with professionals working at different levels within government departments:
- Gemma Read – Social Researcher
- Theo French – Economic Adviser
- Adi Uppal – Apprentice Economist
- Lucy Jones – Apprentice Economist
The event offered a deep dive into the wide range of opportunities available in the Civil Service, with each speaker sharing their journey, role responsibilities, and advice for those considering a future in public service.
Key areas covered included:
- Current labour market trends
- The value of degree apprenticeships
- Details on upcoming Civil Service apprenticeship applications, opening in December 2025
The session was tailored to support Sixth Form students in making informed choices about their next steps — whether that be university, an apprenticeship, or direct employment. The presence of both experienced professionals and current apprentices gave students a well-rounded perspective on how to enter and progress within the Civil Service.
Students also had the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the speakers, gaining real-world insight into the skills and qualities needed for success in these roles.
Central Sixth and Moseley Park Academy would like to thank the Civil Service team for their time and expertise, and look forward to welcoming more professionals in the future to continue helping students shape their futures.
