Group Gets Tips On The Write Way To Be Successful

Budding wordsmiths got tips on how to see their own work in print when an up-and-coming author came to visit.

Members of the Young Writers’ Club played host to Gemma Todd, who writes under the pen name G X Todd.

The former librarian, who is based in the West Midlands, is the author of the highly-acclaimed Voices series. She published her second book, Hunted, in May. It followed the success of the first in the post-apocalyptic quartet, Defender, which came out in August last year.

She bought some merchandise from her publishers to share with pupils and talked through how she got into writing, publishing and the process of editing.

Miss Shinton, who runs the Young Writers’ Club, said students had really enjoyed the chance to speak to a published author. “Many of them would like write books of their own one day, so it was fabulous to speak to someone who had been there and done that already and get some hints and tips,” she added.
