Isabella Gets A Kick Out Of Karate Victory
A Moseley Park student is making her mark on the international martial arts stage.
Isabella Wilkes, who is in Year 7, won a silver medal in the International Banzai Open in Berlin.
The 11-year-old has been doing karate for five years and achieved her black belt when she was just nine. She has been competing for Walsall Karate Dojo for the last three years and for JKS England for the last two years and is currently in the Female U12 kumite -40kgs category.
The competition in Germany at the end of September was Isabella’s first international and saw 1589 competitors in 231 teams from 28 nations vie for the honours.
Isabella said she was now hopeful of being selected to represent JKS England at the JKS World Championships in 2019 in Dublin.
