Moseley Park Academy Celebrates National Careers Week 2026

This week, Moseley Park Academy has been proudly celebrating National Careers Week, shining a spotlight on the wide range of opportunities awaiting our students beyond the classroom.

Throughout the week, teachers have been embedding careers education into their lessons by highlighting how their subjects link to real-world professions. From exploring pathways in science, technology, the arts, humanities, and more, students have been able to see how the skills they develop every day open doors to future careers.

Year 8 Options Support and Taster Sessions

As part of the celebrations, our Year 8 students have taken part in a series of taster lessons, giving them the chance to explore subjects they may choose for their GCSE options. These sessions have helped students experience new areas of learning, ask questions, and begin to shape their ambitions for the future.

The week also included our Year 8 Parents’ Evening, offering families valuable guidance on the options process. Staff were on hand to discuss subjects in depth and offer personalised advice to help students make informed decisions.

Careers Talk with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

A highlight of the week was a special visit from representatives of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), who delivered an engaging careers talk tailored for Year 8. The session provided students with insights into:

Current trends in the labour market

Emerging career sectors

Future job opportunities shaped by new technologies and economic growth

Students also had the opportunity to take part in a Q&A session, where they asked a range of thoughtful, one‑to‑one questions about career pathways, skills employers are looking for, and how to prepare for the world of work.
