Respect

This half term, our whole‑school character focus has been the trait of Respect. Staff and students have explored what respect looks like in our school community and how it can be demonstrated through daily interactions, learning behaviour, and engagement with wider cultural and faith‑based events.

Across the term, we have marked several key moments in the calendar that allowed students to deepen their understanding of respect for others, their beliefs, and their identities:

Lent and Ramadan

Students observing Lent and Ramadan have been supported by staff, with adjustments made where appropriate to daily routines and activities. Assemblies and tutor‑time discussions have helped the wider student body understand the significance of these periods, encouraging empathy, awareness, and respect for the diverse faith traditions within our school community.

International Women’s Day

The school celebrated International Women’s Day, highlighting achievements of women locally, nationally, and globally. Classroom activities and assemblies focused on themes of equality, representation, and respect for the contributions women make across society. Students engaged positively with the theme and contributed thoughtful reflections.

LGBTQ+ History Month

During LGBTQ+ History Month, students learned about the historical figures, movements, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals. Activities emphasised respect, inclusion, and the importance of understanding diverse identities and experiences. Staff reported strong engagement from students and positive discussions around equality and acceptance.
