Science Careers Spotlight at Moseley Park Academy

As part of our ongoing commitment to raising pupil aspirations and promoting science-based career pathways, Dr Swann has recently organised two inspiring guest speaker events at Moseley Park Academy.

In the first event, all Year 9 pupils had the unique opportunity to hear from Major General (Retired) Professor Tim Hodgetts, who delivered a compelling talk about careers in the military, with a particular focus on military medicine. His wealth of experience and insight into the role of science and healthcare in the armed forces sparked great interest and enthusiasm among students.

The second event welcomed Dr Basit Kakroo, who worked with pupils from Years 9, 10 and 12 who have ambitions of pursuing careers in medicine. Dr Kakroo provided invaluable advice on medical career pathways and application support, helping students better understand the steps needed to achieve their goals in this highly competitive field.

Both events were a fantastic opportunity for pupils to engage with real-world professionals and gain a deeper understanding of science-related careers. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Major General Hodgetts and Dr Kakroo for volunteering their time and expertise.
