Success Is Mapped Out As Year 7 Duo Smash School Record
Two intrepid Year 7 students proved their orienteering skills after shaving nearly 40 minutes off the school course record.
Aryan Virdi and Kaavi Chandard – who are both members of the Year 7 Excellence Academy – completed the orienteering challenge in 26 minutes 50 seconds, smashing the previous record of 1 hour 4 minutes.
All Year 7s are currently developing their understanding of map symbols, four figure and six figure grid references through their Integrated Studies lessons.
Mr O’Keeffe, who runs the Excellence Academy, said: “The orienteering course allows the students to apply the theoretical knowledge they have learnt in lesson into a practical environment. It’s a tremendous achievement by Aryan and Kaavi – they’ve set a tough target for future students to beat.”
