Year 13 Leavers – Chance To Get Free Meningitis Vaccination

Year 13 students who are heading off to university this autumn are being encouraged to protect themselves from meningitis.

From 20 July 2026, local pharmacies will be offering the NHS Meningococcal B (MenB) vaccination free to eligible young people.

The vaccine is available to:

  • Students completing Year 13 this summer.
  • Young people under 25 who are starting university for the first time this autumn.

MenB can cause serious illnesses such as meningitis and septicaemia. Students who are eligible and have not previously received the vaccine are encouraged to arrange their vaccination before starting university.

Parents, carers and students are encouraged to review the information and take advantage of this important NHS vaccination programme.
